AURORA – An exhibit by Jo Fredell Higgins of 1930s/1940s greeting cards and telegrams will be featured at the Eola Road Branch Library during the month of May.
These artifacts are part of a collection exchanged between her mother and father. There are seasonal cards that sold for 10 cents and Western Union telegrams delivered from Peoria, Illinois. Fredell Higgins writes a weekly column for The Voice newspaper and a monthly column for the newsmagazine Oracle, which is published for the residents of Oakhurst in Aurora.
Her latest book, “Legendary Locals: Aurora,” was released last December. Fredell Higgins serves on the Aurora Public Library Foundation Board, is chair of the Aurora Township Youth Commission, is chair of the GAR Commission, serves on the search committee for the new Aurora Township Youth Director and serves on the Compassion Foundation nomination committee.
