Aurora residents attending the City’s Arbor Day event at Washington Middle School Friday, April 29 will be going home with a free seedling oak.
The City will celebrate Arbor Day from 1 to 2 p.m. at the school, 231 Constitution Drive. The event is sponsored by the City in conjunction with Living Lands and Waters Foundation, Commonwealth Edison and West Aurora School District 129.
Dignitaries scheduled to speak at the event include Mayor Tom Weisner, 5thWard Alderman James “Whitey” Peters, Aurora Public Library Director Eva Luckinbill and West Aurora School District 129 Superintendent James Ryland.
Trees will be planted along Constitution Drive, and the free oak seedlings will be distributed to residents at the conclusion of the ceremony.
